Just Kickin at YC Sask
well, last weekend was a great time at YC Sask, and I enjoyed connecting with new and old friends.
I met up with Gregg Johnson, the main speaker, and we had a great chat about ministry to the 'tweens.'
This was interesting to me, especially in light of my last post. He wrote an article called 'Just Kicken' and basically shares these 4 points:
Tween Trend #1: They're getting older younger
Tween Trend #2: They're getting faster quicker
Tween Trend #3: They're getting sadder sooner
Tween Trend #4: They're staying younger longer
I'll see if i can't save the whole article as a pdf for you to view. His ministry web site is here
so what do you guys think? Is this true in our province, or are those simply 4 cute little phrases?

I do believe that the tweeneers is a real group of people who need more of Christ. I truly believe that if you are doing something significant for the grade 4-6 students, you will be chasing a group of grade 7-8's that are not interested in what you have to offer.
If you are a Youth Pastor or Worker, volunteer for a month in the children's ministry. You will be amazed at what these students think, know and do. I was responsible for our Children's ministry during a maternity leave. Wow, did I learn a lot about the next generation of teenagers. Maybe, in your area the kids do not already have ipods, cell phones and regular trips to other parts of the world, but mine do. We need to get ready for them now.
Middle school is a big part of our future student ministry. Is it real. Oh yes!
